- A softer, cotton, hand spliced variation of our best selling rope slip lead with a nickel-plated steel ring, rubber binding and stopper.
- Rope leads , also known as slip leads or gundog slip leads, are simple and quick to apply to your dog, without the need for a collar (though optional if you wish).
- Slip leads are often used as a training tool and on well trained dogs. The lead tightens as the dog pulls. As the dog comes closer the slip lead loosens, the stopper stops the lead from becoming so loose that it could fall off. This allows your dog to have great amounts of comfort when walking as they aren't always being pulled back as with a standard lead, whilst giving you the security of having a lead that doesn't allow them to pull away.
- The lead comes in three lengths, 1.2, 1.5 and 1.8 m long, measured from the tip of the handle to fully extended lead.
- This lead is 3 hand spliced lengths of cotton rope creating a 9mm diameter rope.
- It utilises a brass plated ring, and rubber stopper and binding.
- This lead is great in working dog environments for training and in public areas for well-trained dogs to have an easy to apply lead without the need for a collar.
- Handmade in England
- As these products are handmade there is a small amount of variability between products.

This is a well made slip lead, but whether you will like it or not depends on your use. If you keep it high on the dog’s head, and tight behind their ears, it will probably be quite good. It’s soft in your hands and surely soft around the dog’s head also. The stopper seems really sturdy. If you like to leave the lead very loose around the dog’s neck and chest, pulling with a flick when needing to direct your dog, it isn’t so good. The rope and fittings are quite lightweight so it doesn’t slip back down so easily, staying too close at the neck. It has a spring to it, which makes a clear flick difficult - personally I prefer a non springy lead but others may prefer the springiness. Also the light rope and coils sometimes result in it getting caught in my dog’s fur - she’s a Labrador. It might be fine if you have a totally reliable old dog and just want something gentle and soft and easy to shove in your pocket. But for training purposes, if you use the loose round the neck method, a stiffer and smoother lead would be better.
Been looking for soft cotton leads for a long time and was so pleased to find them and in different lengths and widths! Thank you
The stopper is incredible on these leads and the cotton is so soft. My dogs are large but two of them are more delicate and I like that these leads won’t aggravate their skin or rub. Thank you!
